Spanish translation of The Unjust Steward: Wealth, Poverty, and the Church Today now available

Today I received my copy of the Spanish edition of The Unjust Steward: Wealth, Poverty, and the Church Today, translated as El Mayordomo Injusto: Riqueza, pobreza, y la iglesia de hoy.  I’m especially grateful to the Rev. Ema Rosero-Nordalm , who wrote these generous words about the book (my translation): “In clear, simple, and elegant language, this book offers Latino communities great teaching and a guide for reflection and action, rooted in the history of sharing from our abundance, from the first Christian communities to the church of today.” I'm very grateful to the team at Forward Movement for publishing the Spanish edition. On Sacrificial Offering in Corrupt Times

This past Sunday, April 6, I had the opportunity to preach and do a presentation at St. Mary's in Chappaqua, NY. My presentation focused on walking through the instances in which money comes up in Jesus' last week. Thank you to the Rev. Chris Lee for the invitation!  -----  Fifth Sunday in Lent, Year 6 April 6, 2025 at St. Mary's in Chappaqua, NY Good morning on this fifth Sunday of Lent. My name is Miguel Escobar, and I am a recently ordained deacon serving in the Episcopal Diocese of Long Island. Currently, I serve as a curate at a small, Spanish-speaking parish in Sunset Park, Brooklyn, called San Andrés. We are a diverse community, with members from many parts of the United States and Latin America—primarily from the Caribbean, but also from Mexico and Central America. In addition to that new role, I am a writer. Each morning, I wake up, drink coffee, and spend the  first hour of my day researching and writing about Christianity’s complex relationship with money. Interview with the Rev. Duncan Hilton - "Jesus, Wealth, Ancient Christian Exemplars, and the Danger of Boutique Christianity"

I recently had a meaningful conversation with the Rev. Duncan Hilton about my book, The Unjust Steward: Wealth, Poverty, and the Church Today . We explored the tension between Jesus’ teachings on wealth and modern church practices. Drawing from my experiences, from my roots in small-town Texas to my roles working for Episcopal institutions, we looked at the ethical complexities of church stewardship and example of Jesus' scandalous generosity.  Rev. Hilton wrote about our interview here and it is available here on Spotify .
